The Northern Regional Language Centre (NRLC), Patiala, India offers structured language-learning programmes designed to develop practical proficiency, linguistic understanding and cultural awareness among learners.

Our Language Programmes
The language courses at the Centre are designed for learners who wish to acquire proficiency in a language other than their own. The programmes combine classroom instruction with practical language use, interactive learning, independent study and cultural exposure.
Depending upon the programme and academic session, language courses may be offered in different Indian languages.
Punjabi Language
The Punjabi Language Course provides systematic training in Punjabi with emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are introduced to pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and practical communication.
The programme also provides opportunities to explore Punjabi literature, history, society, folklore and cultural traditions, enabling learners to understand the language within its broader cultural context.

Urdu Language
The Urdu Language Course is designed to develop proficiency in spoken and written Urdu. Particular attention is given to the Urdu script, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and communication.

Dogri Language

Four-Skill Approach to Language Learning
Our courses are built around the integrated development of the four fundamental language skills:
Listening — understanding spoken language, pronunciation, conversations and audio materials.
Speaking — developing fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence in communication.
Reading — developing script recognition, comprehension and the ability to engage with different forms of written material.
